Thermal response of crosslinked poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (NIPAAm) gel grafted on a single ion track in poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) was investigated using elec. cond. The graft layer shrank above 31° resulting in an increase of current through the pore. The technique enables detailed swelling and shrinking studies in grafted single-ion tracks including a precise detn. of vol. phase transition temps. In this way a basis for expts. with large org. mols. relevant to drug release is established.
